OTAKIRI BRANCH

RECENT ACTIVITIES

During the past two months a challenge was received from the Thornton Y.F.C. for a football match. This was played on August 31, resulting in a win for Thornton, the score being Thornton 12 and Otakiri 10. At the August meeting a very interesting lecture on the importance of Herd Testing and Sire Survey work was given by Mr Gilmer, Consulting Officer of the Herd Recording Department of the N.Z. Dairy Board.

At the September meeting a very interesting lecture on the evolution of the pig was given by Mr F. Barwell. He also spoke on the feeding of the breeding sow before and during pregnancy.

The club held a very successful dance on Tuesday 23rd. Excellent music was provided by the Premier Orchestra.

The hall was decorated with greenery and spring flowers and the floor was in excellent condition. The duties of M.C. were in the capable hands of Mr G. Murray. A confetti foxtrot and a host of novelties provided extra entertainment during the evening. A delicious home-made supper was prepared and served by a ladies committee Those who rilised this excellent evening’s entertainment will have the opportunity of attending a similar one to be held in December.
