FEDERATION EXECUTIVE A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Eastern Bay of Plenty Federation of Women’s slnstitute was held in Whakatane on September 18, Mrs Armstrong presiding. Arrangements were completed for the bi-annual Council meeting, to be held at Waiotahi on Friday, October 8.
A very interesting and comprehensive report on the Dominion Council meeting held recently in Wellington, was given by the Federation delegate, Mrs Caverhill. Final arrangements were made for the forthcoming Drama Festival. This year the Festival is to extend over two days and is to be held at Taneatua on October 14 and 15. It was decided that the prizewinning plays should be produced later at evening performances at Whakatane on 21st and at Waimana on 23rd October.
A motion was passed that‘additional trophies should be purchased to cover awards in four sections, namely, best actress, best mixed cast, best comedy, best all women cast. It was furthermore decided that such trophies should be held for one year, but in the event of being won three years in succession to become the property of the winning actress or group.
