WHAKATANE MEN’S CLUB Favoured with ideal golfing weather and their course in excellent condition the members of the Whakatane Club enjoyed a full week--end of play. The results of the finals played on. Saturday are as follows: — Fortune Cup: L. M. Roach beat M. D. Murray 5 and 4. Founders’ Cup: L. E. Carter beat T. A. Bridger 1 up. Cup Flight: D. Luxton beat W. Steel 3 and 2. Fortune Consolation: L. Berg beat W. Howat.

Founders’ Consolation: C. Hyland to play A. Tubb. Flight Consolation: L. Luxton beat E. Shuker The. best cards in a concurrent Stableford were: E. Mussett 38, L. Derg 37, F. R. Combes and S. C. Spence 36. The first round of the championships will be played next Saturday and those not so engaged will play a knock-out competition. All matches will be played in single formation and should be started as early as possible. Senior Knock-out: Bell v R. Morpeth; R. Butler v Wright; Powdrell v Syme. Intermediate Knock-out: R. Akel v A. Moore; Cantrell v West; Campbell v Tubb; Heather v Le Pine; Dawson v Rangi; Barry v Cockerell; A. Anderson v Spring. Owing to lack of numbers no draw has been made for the juniors. The return visit of the Opotiki Club on Sunday was thoroughly enjoyed by all who participated. Although the majority of the games were won by Whakatane the matches were played and the results accepted in true inter-club spirit. A Stableford Bogey played in the afternoon was won by Mr D. Murray and N. Hockin with 38 points each. Match Against Rotoyua The following players will represent Whakatane against Rotorua on the Whakatane links next Sunday: Cradwick, Hockin, I. B; Smith, Littlejohn, A. C. Anderson, Tomlinson. TE TEKO LADIES’ CLUB A Bogey competition will be played this week. Following is the draw: Mrs K. Smith and Mrs Cannell; Mrs' Balfour and Mrs Tony Smith; Mrs Goodwin and Mrs Caldwell; Mrs Hutton and Miss Murray; Mrs Burr and Miss Linsell; Mrs Linsell and Mrs Anderson; Mrs Hendl and partner. Sunday: Mrs Thomas and Mrs Francis; Mrs Kelly Smith and Mrs Russell; Miss Cornish and Mrs Caldwell. The Medal results were as follows: ‘B’ Grade, Mrs Francis 106—32 —74; ‘C’ Grade (10 holes), Mrs Caldwell 58—6 —52.
