GIFT EVENING
A gift evening was held in the Waimana Hall last Thursday, when Miss Frances Woolfield was the guest of honour. Although the weather was not the best, there was a large gathering of friends. The music was supplied by Mr and Mrs King for dancing and Mr A. Bell played an extra. Mr F. Sterling was an efficient M.C. There were confetti and Monte Carlo dances. After supper, Mr Norman Eagle, on behalf of all present, asked Miss Woolfield and Mr Paddy Clark to come forward and accept the many gifts with best wishes for their future life. Mr Eagle also on behalf of the tennis club members, asked Miss Woolfield to accept a silver rose bowl in appreciation of her great help to the club. Miss Woolfield has been secretary for several years. In reply, Mr Clark, on behalf of Miss Woolfield, thanked Mr Eagle for his kind remarks and also thanked the tennis club members for their beautiful gift. He also thanked all friends for their gifts and for arranging the social evening.
