RAGWORT ON LAND

OPOTIKI COUNCIL PROBLEM Ragwort and how to get rid of it is a “live issue” in the Opotiki County. , The Opotiki News reports that after the Opotiki County Council had heard the report of the noxious weeds inspector, a discussion took place concerning a Waiotahi property which was described as one of the worst in Opotiki as far as ragwort was concerned. At the last sitting of the court the charge was Withdrawn by the council on account of the owner and not the occupier of the land being prosecuted. Cr Starky humorously remarked that any councillors going afound with the noxious weeds inspector should taken out an insurance policy. He and another councillor had been lucky to get away alive.
