WOMEN’S DIVISION

AWAKERI BRANCH The Awakeri Branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers held their May meeting in the Awakeri Hall. Mrs Haultain presided. The meeting opened with the reciting of the Creed, after which business was dealt with. Mrs Haultain asked each member to make a square eight inches in size filled with feathers or wool to be joined together for a quilt which will be sent overseas. Mrs Carter then took over the meeting after which afternoon tea was served. Competitions for the day were as follows: Best fruit: Mrs Hoyland 1, Mrs McKenzie 2, Mrs Haultain 3. • Best flower: Mrs L. Carter 1, Mrs Brizzle 2, Mrs Barr 3. Best vegetable: Mrs McKenzie 1, Mrs Cooper 2, Mrs Rust 3.
