LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

MONTHLY MEETING [ Mrs Metcalfe presided over the ! monthly meeting of the League which was held recently. The meeting was opened in the customary I manner, all members joining in the League Hymn, League Prayer and the Lord’s Prayer. All members were asked for an appropriate verse in honour of Mothers’ Day. A very interesting letter was received from the affiliated branch from Ruthwell, Dumfries, Scotland. All members were in favour of sending a parcel to the branch.

Three new members, Mesdames Kelly, Schofield and Hanlin were enrolled.

The speaker for the day was Mrs James who gave an interesting address on two ! noted composers, Franz- Schubert and Chopin. Mrs K. Stewart played “Small Waltz” and “Mazurka,” two of Chopin’s pieces. Mrs Schofield played “Little Wild Rose” and Mrs James, played a selection of pieces from Schubert. Mrs Metcalfe thanked the artistes and presented each with a shoulder spray. Afternoon tea was served and the singing of the National Anthem brought the afternoon to a close.
