LETTER OF THANKS

LIFE SAVED” •// TRIBUTE TO HOSPITAL A letter of thanks from the father of a patient that was much appreciated by members was received by the Bay of Plenty Hospital Board at its meeting on Thursday. The writer expressed his appreciation of the efficiency and courtesy of the Medical Superintendent and his staff in respect -to attention and. treatment given to the writer’s two-year-old child. This child had eaten an unknown quantity of pills known to be dangerous to heart action. Rushed to the hospital—a distance of about 20 miles—the child was given the necessary treatment within the space of minutes after her arrival. “This undoubtedly saved the life of the child,” added the letter. “It is very pleasing to have this letter,” remarked the chairman, Mr J. Mullins.

Mr A. McGougan agreed, saying the hospital had sometimes been criticised, and he would like the Press to give publicity to expressions of gratitude such as this. Other members remarked that when they had read the item on the agenda “re treatment of child” they had been afraid it was a complaint, and they were relieyed to find that it was a letter of thanks.
