UNITED NATIONS WEEK

INTEREST IN WHAKATANE United Nations Week has been celebrated in New Zealand. Many people have become better acquainted with the work of this world organisation as a result of radio addresses heard on Sundaiy, Monday and Tuesday.

These talks have been sponsored by the United Nations Association of New Zealand, an organisation which has the support of a host of leaders of all sections of the community.

A representative of this association is at present visiting centres of the Bay of Plenty to enlist additional members. In Whakatane he has met with a gratifying response and a number of citizens have expressed that approval of the United Nations Association in practical form.

Probably an active branch of the association will eventually be formed.. There is an opportunity for those with the time and the enthusiasm to see that Whakatane district dQes not lag behind other parts of New Zealand in showing interest in the work of United Nations.
