BOXING SCHOOL FORMED OFFICERS ELECTED A meeting was held recently in the Waimana Hall for the purpose of forming a Boxing School. The meeting was well attended by the local residents, and after a lengthy discussion it was decided to form a local school. Election of Officers The following officers were elected:— Chairman, Mr J. Chapman-Smith; secretary, Mr J. L. Bain; treasurer, Mr H. Bell; committee, Messrs. J. Chapman-Smith, J. T. Cain, N. A. Eagle, A. McWonald and J. Ruff; trainers, Messrs. J. Chapman,Smith (chief), J. Ruff and A. McDonald. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair,
BASKETBALL DANCE SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION The Waimana-Nukuhou Basketball Club held a very successful dance in the Nukuhou School recently. The function was well attended by dancers, and the M.C., Mr D. White, kept the evening going with a swing from start to finish. Mr and Mrs King supplied the dance music. Numerous novelty dances were held consisting of Monte Carlos, Statue Waltz and Confetti Foxtrot. Some of the competitions won during the evening were: Dinner, Mrs Mottram; box of chocolates, S. McConnell; and others were won by J. Martin, M. Mannion and Miss J. Stevens. The club funds will benefit considerably from the proceeds of the fuhction.
A delicious home-made supper was served by the members of the club, after which the'president, Miss N. Tizard, thanked all the helpers and all who attended the evening and made the dance the success it was.
