SAWMILL ACCIDENT

TRUCK DRIVER INJURED TIMBER JACK SLIPS Injuries to the side and head were suffered by Ronald Jones, a married man of Goulstone Road, Whakatane, yesterday morning when a timber jack which he was operating slipped and struck him. Mr Jones who is employed by Messrs. Brabant Bros. Ltd., as a driver was' unloading a logging truck at the skids, on the premises of Whakatane Sawmillers Ltd. when the accident occurred. The jack apparently slipped and the handle struck him inflicting the injuries mentioned.

He was removed by ambulance to the Whakatane Hospital and is reported to be making satisfactory progress.
