WEEKEND ACCIDENT

CARS IN COLLISION TWO WOMEN INJURED Two married women suffered minor injuries necessitating their removal to hospital when two motor cars were involved in a collision half way between Ohope and Whakatane on April 11. One car, driven by Alfred Steele of Rotorua, who was accompanied by his wife, was proceeding towards Ohope. The other car, driven by Rupert Edgar Purrott of New Plymouth, accompanied by his wife, was proceeding in the opposite direction. The cai's met head on at a sharp corner at about 3 p.m. All four people involved suffered injuries and were taken to the Whakatane Hospital for observation. The two men were discharged almost immediately. Both cars were damaged.
