ROAD MISHAP

DAMAGE TO FREIGHT TRUCK When his truck hit the corner of a small trailer in passing, Mr M. Graham owner and driver of the Wairoa-Rotorua freight service had a narrow escape from serious injury. Extensive damage was done to the truck and the services of a portable welding plant had to be obtained from Te Whaiti before it could be shifted from the site of the accident. The damage included a bent axle and a chassis as well as damage to the radiator and mudguards. Only minor damage was done to the trailer and neither driver was hurt. The accident occurred when Mr Graham was returning to Rotorua and was within two miles of Te Whaiti.
