A SPLENDID PERFORMANCE

THE distinction of winning the South Auckland Brass Bands Championship (Grade C) belongs to the Whakatane Citizens Band, and reflects the greatest credit upon its members and conductor. Ten years ago the Whakatane Band gained individual prominence at the same contest, but last Easter there was greater reason for congratulation in view of the fact that the band was mainly composed of boys, who from all accounts surpassed themselves in practically every event. The warmest congratuations go to the band from the town and district as a whole.
