WHAKATANE BOWLING CLUB RECENT GAME RESULTS Over the past weekend a number of club and pick-up matches took place on the Whakatane Bowling Club’s greens at Apanui. Details were as under:— Campbell, C. and G. Head and Tippett 17 beat Gerring, Rutherford, King and Harris 14. McGowan, Stewart, White and Darvill 19 beat Sumner, E. J. Bell, Howat and Loane 19. Wilson, Brown, Hellyar and Burgess 23 beat Compton, White, Salmon and Smaljon 13. Gerring, Bell, Cottrell and Grant 20 beat Hay, Sim, Coates and Berg 13. Smith, Dainton, Butler and Howat 16 beat Anstis, Bennett, Alexander and Warner 13. Smith Stars Spong, J. Wilson, Pearson " and Dixon (challengers) 21 beat Hollis, Littlejohn, Murphy and Henderson (holders) 16. Championship Pairs Final: A. C. King and C. W. Good (s) defeated C. Hayward and A. Mclsaac (s) 19. King and Good although 15 points behind at tea adjournment, scored 20 points to their oppents’ four, after resuming. Good required two to win on the last head and this he obtained, both King and he drawing a shot, Mclsaac failed to save.
EASTER TOURNAMENT
TEAMS PARTICIPATING Teams from WTiakatane, Raglan, Hamilton, Taneatua, Claudelands, Tuakau, Patamahoe, will participate in hte forthcoming Easter Bowling Tournament conducted by the Whakatane Club. If the same element of success attends the tourney this year as it did last, bowlers can safely look forward to a splendid weekend of first class play and fellowship.
