“DANGEROUS CORNER”
The Southland Times (Invercargill) of 17/12/46 said: “Theatregoers should and undoubtedly will be extremely thankful to Whitehall Productions for bringing such artists of renown as Kathleen Robinson and Richard Parry with their well chosen cast in the delightful presentation of J. B. Priestley’s thriller “Dangerous Corner.’”
The point emphasised is that if some of the dangerous corners in life were not skifully negotiated there would be an awful smash, and that it is often better to let sleeping dogs lie. In this case, the lying and secrecy make for smoother living, and the dragged-out truth spelt heartbreak and tragedy. Telling the story in retrospect, Priestley draws his characters with restraint, &, following suit, the cast achieved the right atmosphere of tense drama and brooding calamity. This is the company’s farewell visit here. Box plans are now on view at Armstron’s.
The season is for one night only at the Grand Theatre on Thursday, March 20.
