STOCK JUDGING COMPETITION HIGH STANDARD REACHED Seven teams from the local groups of the Y.F.C. participated in the stock judging competitions at the Raeburn Jersey Stud (property of Mr J. S. Rae, Opouriao) last Wednesday. There was a gratifying keenness displayed by all who participated and the general standard was exceptionally high. Details were as under:—
Otakiri Y.F.C. Ist with 180 points (maximum 180); Taneatua 2nd with 136 points; Whaaktape D.H.S. 3rd with 119 points; Awakeri 4th with 115 points; Waimana sth with 90 points; Thornton 6th with 55 points. Edgecumbe, Opotiki and Opotiki D.H.S. were not represented. Besides the team cards, 51 individual cards were handed in and the highest scoring of these were:— 1 John Murray, Otakiri Y.F.C. 180 points (maximum 180); 2 George Murray, Otakii'i 176 points; 3 Sandy McLean, Otakiri 169 points; 4 George Hill, Taneatua 154 points;. 5 T .Hill, Whakatane D.H.S. 135 points; 6 J. Barr, Awakeri 130 points; 7 R. Brown, Awakeri 128 points; 8 Roger Hill, Taneatua 120 points; 9 W. Wharewera, Whakatane D.H.S. 120 points; 10 C. Martin, Awakeri 115 points; 11 A. Green, Taneatua 110 points; 11 T. Moeke, Whakatane D.H.S. 110 points; 13 J. Wano, Whakatane D.H.S. 100 points; 13 L. Bell, Whakatane D.H.S. 100 points. The inter-district competition will be held at the same place on Thursday, March 6. There will be demonstrations on horse judging and pig judging and also a potato digging competition.
