FIELD DAY PLANNED
ROD AND GUN VENTURE At a poorly attended meeting of gun dog owners, sponsored by the Whakatane Rod and Gun Club held recently, it was suggested that the club hold another gun dog trial before the end of February. It was also suggested that the poor entrances of dogs at previous occasions might be attributed to owners feeling that their dogs were not up to trial standard. Members of the Gun Dog Trial Sub-committee assured those present that any dog which performed reasonably well in the field would be well up to trial standard, and they hoped that every dog owner would bring his dog along to the next trial and give it a run even if only for the sake of some education before the shooting season.
As there was a possibility of the A. & P. Show Committee co-operat-ing with the club in putting on a Dog Section at the forthcoming Show the Club President was asked to approach the Show Secretary to discuss the possibilities.
