POPULAR SHOOT
ROD AND GUN CLUB'S DAY SOME KEEN COMPETITION The latest 'shoot' conducted by the Whakatane Rod and Gun Club took place last weekend in, perfect weather on the club's own grounds. Some twenty-four members were present, and the automatic trap was in use for the first time, with signal success. Details of the competitions were as under:— Eye Opener (5 birds): W. Hume, F. Matchitt and W. Davies all shot the possible. Five Bird Sweep: R. Stephenson, A. Powdrell, W. Kenyon, R. Ricketts, J. Hayward, J. Tebbutt, F. Matchitt and J. Plamus all shot four birds and divided the stake. Ten Bird Sweep: J. Plamus Ist with 10 birds, W. Davies, W. Mayo and F. Matchitt 9 birds each divided 2nd money. Points Shoot: J. Hassett 10 birds 1, W. Kenyon, J. Tebbutt, W. Hume and J. Reynolds 2nd with 8 points. Trophy Shoot (15 birds): S. Kerr Ist with 15 birds, J. Plamus 2nd with 14 birds. W. Davies, W. Semmens and J. Tebbutt tied for 3rd with 12 birds each and in the * shoot off J. Tebbutt won the 3rd trophy. Double Rise (5 pair):" J. Tebbutt Ist with 9 breaks, S. Kerr 2nd with 7 breaks. . Gimcrack (5 birds starting at 14 yards): W. Hume Ist with 5, R. Ricketts, W. Davies, A. Jones, S. Kerr, J. Plamus and E. Le Leive divided 2nd money with 4 birds each. Five Bird Sweep: A. Powdrell, S. Kerr and.R. Ricketts shot'the possible and divided the stake. Box Shoot (5 birds, 18yds): J. Plamus and W. Hume divided with 4 birds each. ,
