GAOL FOR THEFT
YOUNG MAORI'S OFFENCE
THREE-WEEK SENTENCE
Pleading guilty to the theft of an electric razor valued at £5, a young Maori, Johnny Wilson, appeared before Messrs. C. H. Christensen and J. King J.Ps., in the Whakatane Police Court last Tuesday.
Sergeant Farrell said that on December 20 last, accused entered the second-hand shop of Mr J. J. Laskey and noticed the razor on display. He appropriated it, & later when it was handed in to another electrical shop for repairs, it was identified as the stolen article. Accused admitted the offence and gave no explanation for his action. He was a native of Te Teko and there were no previous convictions against him. He was convicted and sentenced to 21 days in the local gaol.
