SPLITTING OF AUCKLAND PROVINCE
Sir, —I wonder if the farmers know yet why the Auckland Province is being subject to such a desperate attack. Well I will tell them. It is because Auckland Executive at their members request set up an exceedingly successful Meat Co-op. which will shortly be turning over a good half million of money, which is spreading even to the South Island! This has paid into the farmers pockets many thousands of pounds which without Auckland they would never have got. No farmers had to invest money in it nor did the farmers Union. But it works! It is growing every year and has been working for some years. This is not the only Farmers Co-op. Auckland has started. Auckland can do things has done things—will do things! Smash up the Auckland Provincial set-up and you weaken the orgahisation. You leave the Co-ops. exposed so that they will be easier to destroy. That is why! The poor chumps who are helping to destroy the Auckland Province (unknowingly in most cases) are only being used to their own ultimate loss.

DOGS—SWIMMING POOL
Sir—We have in Whakatane at the Heads a children’s bathing pool. Why is it that dogs are permitted to roam the beach unleashed and get into the pool. Some owners do have their dogs on a leash but unleash them in the pool. Many children are terified and at any rate it is not hygienic. At some beaches in New Zealand a sign is erected and states dogs must be in charge of someone held by a leash and not let loose. If caught unleashed a penalty is enforced upon dog and owner. Why not such a law at the Heads. Yours etc.,
KINGDOM.
