'SLEEPING BEAUTY’
FRIVS’ NEW SHOW The Napier Frivolity Minstrels new show “The* Sleeping Beauty,” was presented recently to- a Stratford audience, where it received the warmest of receptions. ‘A tip-top show’ was the general opinion, and indeed it was. The following was a local press report: Sparkling humour, lilting music and beautiful dance - arrangements, presented by first class entertainers made the pantomime a complete success. The first half of the programme was devoted to a musical revue interspersed with sketches. Items succeeded each other with precision, the performers not leaving the stage except to change costume. Male and female voices rendered light ballads with solos. June Berry, a contralto, with a great depth of quality and an exceptional range, igave items that were fully applauded iVena Pothan gave a vaudeville number that set off her great stage personality well. The revised and up-to-date adaptation of the pantomime was a sparkling musical presentation in one act. Humorous dialogues and songs by a proved comedian, interspersed the plot and musical numbers of the performance. Ballot dances added to the act, and the leading girl was refreshing and her numbers were good. The costuming was excellent and varied, being particularly suited to the text of the presentation.
