Measures That Help

Two measures which were assisting in the housing of ex-servicemen were referred to by the Director of Rehabilitation at the quarterly meeting of the Rehabilitation Council. They were the allocating of 50 per cent, of all timber used in house building to ex-servicemen building homes and the amendment to the Fair Rents Act, which allowed a house-owner to share his house with an ex-serviceman without the clause applying which prevented the owner deciding to curtail the contract. The timber allocation especially was working very satisfactorily. In no district were ex-servicemen getting less than half available timber.
