Caledonian Sports Meeting

On the immediate horizon is the annual Carnival and Sports Meeting, sponsored and organised by the Whakatane Caledonian Society at the Ohope Picnic Grounds. This takes place on New. Year’s Day, January 1, 1947, and is recognised as being one of the major events of the year. A very bright and attractive programme has been drawn up to cover a wide variety of contests including chopping, athletics, dancing, a cross-country marathon and many other track and field events, and novelties. Young and old alike, in fact, are promised more fun than •can be found anywhere else on New Year’s Day.
