OPEN NIGHT
YOUNG CALEDONIANS CLUB
ITEMS AND DANCING
A highly entertaining programme, flavoured by ‘a dash of Scotch’ was presented last' Saturday evening in the Caledonian Hall, when members of the Young Caledonians’ Club sponsored an Open, Night. Dancing and items were the main features which together contributed to a highly successful function. Music for the occasion was supplied by Mr Ted Hayden at the piano, supplemented by Mr D. Pat-* erson at the drums. A Monte Carlo, into which those present entered wholeheartedly, was won by Mr Brian Mole and Miss Jean Howat. Masters of Ceremonies were Don. Howat and Terry Warner. The items contributed during the evening were all of a high standard, and drew hearty applause. They were presented in each case by members of the MacLeod Clan. Miss Jean Armstrong contributed an enjoyable sketch, and again, in conjunction with Miss Dorothy Stewart, presented a duet: “Cornin’ thru the Rhye.” Miss Phyllis Rivett supplied a tap dance, whilst the MacLeod Clan’s chorus vocalised two numbers: “Bells of St. Mary’s” and “You Wore A Tulip.” A Pipe solo was presented by Don McKenzie.
Supper was very enjoyable and very taste. It was prepared and served on a ‘co-operative’ basis, the Murray Clan doing the 'preparation, the MacLeod Clan the serving, and, the Campbell Clan the washing up. Dancing concluded at midnight, the wholly enjoyable programme concluding with the National Anthem.
