MR R. BOORD’S ADDRESS
ENTHUSIASTIC MEETINGS
The Labour Party’s campaign in the Bay of Plenty electorate was furthered on Tuesday -when Mr R. Boord addressed some .80 electors in the hall at .Matata. Mr W. Law presided at the meeting, which gave the candidate an uninterrupted hearing, his remarks being confined mainly to .the achievements of the Government and its plans for the future in the fields of agriculture, finance, rehabilitation and social service. One question, concerning the rehabilitation of home servicemen, was answered. A vote of thanks to the speaker and of confidence in the Government, was carried unanimously, on the motion of Mr C. Wrathall, seconded by Mr J. Patterson.
Mr Boord spoke in the afternoon to about 20 residents of the Manawahe district. Mr A. Rendall, sen., presided. The candidate spoke on matters of farming interest, and at the conclusion of His address, questions on price fixation, stabilisation and county roading was answered. On the motion of Mr J. Osborne, seconded by Mr-R. Crawford, a vote of thanks and confidence was carried by acclamation.
. On Monday evening, 60 electors were addressed by Mr Boord in the dining room at Rotoiti, Mr E. Bestic being in the chair. . The speaker dealt mainly with finance, rehabilitation and social security, and was given an attentive hearing. Several questions on rehabilitation and Maori affairs were answered. A vote of thanks and confidence, proposed by Mr H. C. Phillips, and seconded by Mr H. Waretini, was carried unanimously.
