RIFLE SHOOTING

ARMS AVAILABLE

Bay of Plenty riflemen will welcome the news that rifles and ammunition are again available to bona fide members of Defence Rifle Clubs at reasonable prices. The types of weapons available through the Defence Department are the No. I MK 111 (S.M.L.E.) and the No. 4 MK.I.

The price of the S.M.L.E. we understand, is £ll. new and £4 2s 6d used, while the No. 4 M.K.I is £ls 16s new and £6 used. These used rifles are quite suitable for a beginner to learn shooting. Two new No. 4 rifles were tried out on the Rangitaiki range and proved very accurate, both returning cards of 65 out of a possible 70 at 200 and 300 yards, using small Bisley targets: Aperture sights cost 100 per cent, pre-war price and the supply is limited.

The Rangitaiki Defence Rifle Club is holding a meeting at Edgecumbe on Tuesday night. A Justice of the Peace will be present, in order to swear in new members^
