RED CROSS APPEAL
JUNIOR MEMBERS’ COPPER TRAIL
On Friday last the Whakatane High School Junior Red Cross Circle held a successful street appeal, the sum of £3l being realised. • Winners of the various competitions were as follows: Xmas Cake: Mrs T. Hansen. Box of Candy: Mr J. Patterson. 10/- Order: Miss Harris. Jar of Sweets: Mrs Philcox.
In the past year Junior Red Cross funds have sent donations to the Gisborne Health Camp to which children go from this area; sent parcels to the Naval and Military Hospitals; provided Xmas presents for children in the Whakatane Hospital; bought wool and materials to make garments for children in Britain. The Circles also are still collecting fat for Britain.
The work of these groups is therefore worthy of public encouragement and the support accorded by the residents of Whakatane and district is appreciated.
