There will be no play for Saturday players owing to the mep’s tournament commencing on that day. TE TEKO GOLF CLOSING DAY FUNCTION Last Friday the Te Teko Golf Club held an open day to mark the close of the season. In the morning a mixed Canadian foursome, played over 9 holes was won by Mrs Moulden and K. Lyons.. In the afternoon, long drive and approach and putting competitions were held. Results were: Ladies’ long drive, Mrs Moulden; approach and putt, Mrs Thomas. Men’s, Mr Blake won both competitions. Before presenting the prizes the President, Mr Tdny Smith, briefly reviewed the season’s play. The club had been unfortunate, he said, in not having been able to use the permanent fairways and the improving of new fairways until well into the season had made playing difficult. After the permanent grass had become playable however, the position had greatly improved and he was sure that members could look forward with confidence to greatly improved conditions in the coming year. The fact that the Domain Board had made a generous grant towards the funds for the building of a general sports clubhouse was greatly appreciated and it was hoped that with the help of voluntary labour it would be ready for the opening of the 1947 season. The presentation of prizes then took_ place the principal winners being as follows: — Ladies B Champion: Mrs Thomas. Ladies C Champion: Miss Murray. Mr Hudson’s Trophy: Mrs Moulden. Mrs L. B. Smith’s Trophy: Mrs Thomas. Mr P. Goodwin’s Trophy: Mr McBride. Men’s Senior Champion: Mr A. P. Smith. Men’s Junior Champion: Mr J. B. Thomas. President’s Trophy: Mr D. Allen. A delicious home-made afternoon tea served by the lady members brought a most enjoyable day to a close.
