SWIMMING

WHAKATANE CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual general meeting of the Whakatane Swimming Club took place in the County Council Chambers last Thursday eevning. .Although there was only a small attendance, . those present took an active part in arranging a programme for the forthcoming season. Mr A. Morpeth, President, briefly addressed the gathering describing the initial aims of the Club, and continuing to review its-activities during the past season. During the course of his. address he mentioned the initial carnival sponsored last year, the visit to the Awakeri Springs, and the highly successful learn to swim week when over 70 children received instruction from members. The balance sheet, which wsa presented, showed the club’s financial position to be satisfactory. The election of officers which was proceeded with resulted as under:— Patron: Mr H. G. Warren. President: Mr A, Morpeth, y Vice-presidents: Messrs.'-W. Armstrong) J. Green, J. D. Rivett, N. Bremner, E. R. Dillicar, W. Henderson, B. S. Barry and L. H. Brown. Secretary-Treasurer: Mr Buttimore. Executive Committee: Messrs. Bath, Chadwick Senr., H. E. Mahy, Stenhouse, A. Breward, F. Cameron, F. Comer; Mrs R. Morpeth; Misses J. McLeod, B. Goodall, Windley, Francis, P. Chadwick. Club Captain (men’s): Mr J. Chadwick. Club Captain (ladies’): Mrs Rex Morpeth. General Business , '• The subscriptions for the new season were fixed at 7/6 for Senior members, 5/- for Inter-medate and 2/6 for Junior. Family subscriptions Tyere fixed at 2/6 plus 6d for each additional child.
