HULK “WANGANUI”

TOW TO WHAKATANE

A letter received from the Northern Steamship Co. Ltd., by the Whakatane Harbour Board at its meeting last Friday, indicated that a further survey of the vessel had been made, and it was now doubtful whether the hulk could safely be towed to Whakatane/ The Company was therefore compelled to withdraw its offer. The letter in question was dated August 12. The secretary reported that subsequent to the receipt of the above, he had been advised by the Company’s agent that an endeavour was going to be made to perform the tow, but no further written communication had been received.
