RUATOKI BRIDGE
PLANTING OF TREES At the last meeting of the Whakatane County Council, Cr A. McGougan imported that he had re-, cently inspected the ,Ruatoki bridge, and found the decking in a bad state of repair. He had also paid a visit to the spot above the bridge where river protection work was being done, and had found that good progress had been made. He advocated that silver poplars in preference to more willows be planted immediately on the erosion. It was decided that this latter suggestion should be canned out, and also that the County Engineer, should confer with the Works Def, partment in regard to the concrete decking and the sealed decking of the bridge.
