SUCCESSFUL DANCE

EDGECUMBE LABOUR PARTY The Edgecumbe Labour Party has a reputation for. its well-conducted dances, and the fellowship extended to all visitors. On Tuesday last a “get together” dance was held in Bell’s Hall, when some 80 couples attended. Old and young were present, and all had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Mr D. Alexander in a brief speech introduced the guest of the evening, Mr *R. Boord, Official Labour Candidate for Bay of Plenty electorate. Mr Boord, who was received with loud applause, thanked all for their welcome, at the same time apologising for the unavoidable absence of Mrs Boord. Visitors were present from Whakatane, Te Teko, Matata and Awakeri branches. Special praise is due to the Ladies Committee which provided the sumptuous supper, the quantity and quality of which were unsurpassed. The Premier Dance Band provided the music, with Mr Jim Corbett as Master of Ceremonies. At 1 a.m. dancing concluded.
