A SOUTH AUCKLAND SCHOOL With the object of obtaining the probable number of boarder-pupils who would attend a South Auckland Agricultural High School if such were established, an advertisement appears in today’s issue, requesting interested parents to forward the names and ages of their sons to the Education Board. It will be remembered that some months ago, a Special Committee of the Education Board was set up to go into the proposal.
The stage has now been reached where the Board has submitted to the Education Department, Wellington, a definite application for the establishment of a South Auckland Agricultural High School under the conditions as outlined in the report of the Special Committee of the Board, and has asked that the Department use every means in its power to expedite a favourable decision. In addition, the petition has been presented to Parliament, and the Board is now taking steps to further publicise the matter. Further information giving more definite indication of the probable roll number is required to support the statement made by the Board in this connection, and - with this end in view, it has been decided to circularise organisations and persons who are known to be actively interested and to insert advertisements in all of, the papers circulating in the South Auckland area. It is anticipated that the case will be further strengthened by an imposing list of prospective pupils.
The committee confidently anticipates that the establishment of this South Auckland High School will be achieved in the not too far distant future.
