LOCAL MAN’S LAPSE In the Whakatane Court yesterday before Messrs. L. H. Brown and C. S. Armstrong, J.P.s, Alfred James Gillespie (Mr Trimmer) pleaded not guilty to a serious charge involving unlawful- carnal knowledge of a female under the age of 16 years. Detective Sergeant Waterson, of Gisborne, conducted the case for the police which involved a lengthy hearing. Accused who reserved his defence was committed to the Supreme Court, Auckland, for trial. Bail was renewed on two sureties of £SOO.
