RUGBY FOOTBALL
SATURDAY’S GAMES There should be some sparkling games of Rugby at the Domain on Saturday (tomorrow). The main Senior attraction at 2.45 p.m. will be the challenge match for the John Pile Memorial Cup between Tikirau (Apanui Sub-Union . Senior Champions) challengers and Paroa (Whakatane Champions) holders. This is the first challenge match for this magnificent cup which was presented to the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union by the Hohapata Family of Paroa, Whakatane,. in memory of the late Lt. J. Pile, who was killed in action in Italy. Lt. Pile represented Te Aute Training College, Auckland, played half-back for New Zealand Maori team versus Fiji at Hamilton. Both teams can swing the leather about and a fast game is assured.
Wairaka will meet United on No. 2 ground in the Bracken Cup Knockout.
Poroporo Juniors will meet Paroa in an important Junior Championship match while United will play the Tikirau Juniors at 1.30 p.m.
