ENDOWMENT FUND

CHAIR OF OBSTETRICS CHAMBER SUPPORTS MOVEMENT With the President, Mr H. G. Warren as convenor, a committee of nine, was set up at the last meeting ef the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce, for the purpose of organising a local campaign to back the appeal for £IOO,OOO the sum set by the Auckland Businessmen’s Committee for the endowment of a Professorial Chair of Obstetrics and Gynaecology to be attached to the Auckland Hospital for Women.

Opening the subject, the president said that the appeal was directed at all New Zealanders. In Whakatane, the Auckland Committee was looking to the Chamber of Commerce for a lead. The cause was a worthy one, and should receive the fullest support of the Chamber. Other members also expressed their desire to assist, Mr S. S. Shapley adding that once the Chamber gave a lead, the women’s organisations in the district would lend their fullest support. The committee which was formed consisted of Messrs. R. Chapman, R. Morpeth, N. Bremner, J. W. Wilson, C. L. Jordon, B. S. Barry, H. D. Paterson, P. J. Green and the President, Mr H. G. Warren, to act also as convenor.
