THEFT OF MONEY

MAORI SENTENCED Before Messrs. L. H. Brown and J. King in the Whakatane Court last Monday, Kiri Martin, charged with the theft of - £1 in money from Mr J. Watarawi on July 27 -it Poroporo, was convicted and sentenced 1o 14 days’ imprisonment in the Whakatane gaol. Accused pleaded guilty. Sergeant Farrell stated that accused had taken the money out of a wad from the owner’s pocket. He had been traced to a billiard room in Whakatane, and on being Questioned admitted his guilt.
