RUGBY FOOTBALL
SATURDAY’S REP. MATCHES Representative teams from the Whakatane Rugby Union will take part in the following matches which will be played on Saturday, August 3:— Senior Whakatane v Opotiki at Opo.tiki (Te Hurunui-Apanui Shield). Junior Whakatane v Tauranga at Tauranga (Shalfoon Shield). Third Grade Third grade teams will participate in a trial match prior to the selection of the representative team to contest the Parata Cup, which is now for Third Grade competition. This trial match will take place at the Whakatane Domain where Taneatua, Ruatoki and Waimana combined, will play High School and Huimai combined at 1.30 p.m. WHAKATANE JUNIOR REPS. The following players have been selected as the Whakatane Junior Rep. team to play Tauranga at Tauranga for the Shalfoon Shield on Saturday, August 3:— Fullback: Winslade. Three-quarters: Addison, Harawira, Trau. Five-eighths: Horne, Rutherford. Half-back: Tiepa. Front Row: G. Goodall. Middle Row: Martin, Hakopa, Ruru, Lafferty. Front Row: Fraser, Bell, Butler. Emergencies—Backs: Takau, Riini; forwards: Stewart, Armstrong. Bus will leave Rock at 8.30 a.m. sharp. Any player unable to play please let the selectors know. RANGITAIKI UNION DRAW The following are the Rangitaiki Rugby Union fixtures for Saturday, August 3rd:*— Seniors, First Round Duff Cup Edgecumbe v Te Teko at Edgecumbe. Matata v Otakiri at Matata. Juniors, First Round Lion Cup
Otakiri v Matata at Otakiri. Awakeri v Thornton at Awakeri Te Teko a bye.
