FARM TRAINEES
NEED FOR EMPLOYERS SERVICEMEN SEEKING PLACEMENT ' The continued need for competent farmers to come forward with offers to train ex-servicemen under rehabilitation subsidy arrangements is emphasised in a statement from the Rehabilitation Board Although there has recently been a slight easing of the situation, says the statement, the number of men awaiting training was no less than 476 at the end of May, while the number of farmers awaiting trainees at the same date was only 72 ‘‘With the opening of the new dairying season, it is felt that there will be a considerable demand for labour,” it continues “It is hoped that it will prove an excellent opportunity for farmers to engage exservicemen under the subsidy scheme and train them so that they may gain enough competency to take over farms of their own”
Of the 476 trainees awaiting placement, 266 are for dairying, 97 for sheep-farming, 44 for mixed sheep and dairying, 41 for sheep and agriculture, 1 for agriculture, and 27 for subsidiary forms of farming such as poultry-farming, bee-keep-ing, etc
