FEDERATED FARMERS
RANGITAIKI BRANCH MEETING At the last meeting of the Rangitaiki Branch of Federated Farmers of New Zealand Inc. held at Edgecumbe on June 10, the following matters were dealt with:— A Budget of estimated - receipts and expenditure for the year ending 31st December 1946, showed a very satisfactory state of affairs, and met with the approval of the branch. Concerning the setting up of the Dairy Section, Mr W. T. Law and Mr C. L. Roberts have been nominated for election to the Bay of Plenty {Provincial Dairy Section Executive. On the motion of Mr C. Hyland, it was agreed ‘That the Minister of Supply be requested to speed up the supply of fencing wire as the shortage of this material is seriously retarding farming operations.’ In connection with this matter the secretary was requested to write the Whakatane County * Council to the effect ‘That the painting white of all cream stands, rural boxes and calf pens should absolve all owners and users of cream stands, rural boxes and calf pens from any responsibility arising through any accident with Such structures.’ • The Board of Directors of the Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Co. have been asked to request the Minister of Agriculture to grant authority to the Local Veterinary Surgeon to condemn T.B. stock. This would assist the Department of Agriculture with the shortage of staff brought about by war 'conditions, and materially help the farmer in his efforts to stamp out this dreaded disease.
