A Strong Argument
At yesterday’s meeting of the Whakatane County Council, Cr McCready mentioned that owing to the shortage of coal railway transport was now being diverted to the road by the use of heavy trucks. This would mean cutting up the roads for which the farmer was paying through the nose. It was part of the fruits reaped by the 40-hour blight. The chairman (Mr J. L. Burnett) said it was an important point which would constitute a strong argument at the forthcoming conference.
