OHOPE’S PROSPECTS

TOMORROW NIGHT’S MEETING

It is pleasing to note an advertisement in this issue announcing a meeting of ratepayers and residents of Ohope Beach to take place tomorrow evening. The meeting has been called as an initial effort to further the interests of Ohope, and to eventually place it in the role of one of the leading resorts of the Bay of Plenty. The beach has all the natural beauty and facilities for enjoyment possible, yet these are at present, in a comparatively undeveloped state. With the guiding hand of a body of residents fully alive to the beach’s potentialities, upon the helm, there is no reason why Ohope should not take its place amongst the list of attractions foremost on tourist booking office lists. Besides the commercial aspect, there is also the fact that residents of the beach are not satisfied with its present untended appearance, and hope that by forming a body some scheme may be entered upon whereby permanent maintenance and beautifying work might be carried out. The interest in the future of Ohope is apparent on all sides; the object of tomorrow night’s meeting is to direct that interest into channels which will eventually benefit all concerned with this, one of the districts greatest natural assets.
