NOTICE OF SPECIAL ORDER Notice is hereby given that at a specal meeting of the Whakatane County Council held on Tuesday the 28th day of May 1946 the following resolution was passed, and will be submitted for' confirmation at the ord--inary meeting of the Council to be held on Tuesday the 25th day of June 1946 at 11 a.m. at the County Council Chambers, Whakatane. RESOLUTION. That in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by Section 122 of the Counties Act 1920 and Section 2 of the Counties Amendment Act 1929, and with the consent of the ratepayers of . that area in the Whakatane County known as the Run 15 Separate Rating District, as testified by a Petition dated the 25th day of April 1946 and signed by a majority of the ratepayers in the said area (the lands comprising such area being fully described in the Schedule appearing in the said Petition a copy of which Schedule is attached to the minutes of this meeting) The Whakatane County Council hereby resolves by way of Special Order to make and levy a Separate rate of six and five-six-teenths pence (6.5/16d) in the pound upon the unimproved value of all rateable property within the said Run 15 Separate Rating District, and that such separate rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the period required in which to repay in full all moneys advanced applied or expended by the Council in connection with the construction, and completion of the road mentioned in the said Petition in accordance with the Prayer thereof and shall be payable yearly on the 9th day of September in each year during the said period. FOOD FOR BRITAIN The Eastern Bay of Plenty Centre of Red Cross will be pleased to receive donations for Food for Britain. 1. All money subscribed goes in full into food—any overhead expense is borne by Red Cross from its own funds. 2. Free storage and handling by Auckland Harbour Board. 3. Free transport by shipping companies to Britain. 4. Manufacturers supply a wide range of necessary foods at discount on wholesale rates, case and deliver goods free to wharfs. 5. New Zealand Overseas Allotment Committee allot shipping space to the Centre monthly. 6. The food is delivered to the Food Allocation Control Board, England who distribute it equitably and where most urgently needed. By sending a subscription to the treasurer, Mr Nbrman Patterson, or the secretary, Mrs J. E. "Winstone you are assured that your money is used in full’for food. The food could not be handled or bought more cheaply and is equitably and quickly distributed. Donations may also be left in Red Cross colection boxes at Commercial Hotel, Whakatane Hotel, Mr A. G. Allan, Jeweller, Mr C. S. Armstrong, Stationer, Mr McGougan, King St. Dairy, or the Red Cross building during the month of June. The Secretaries of the sub-centres at Awakeri, Matata, Taneatua, Te Teko, Edgecumbe and Otakiri will likewise accept donations. THE NEED IS GRAVE. PLEASE HELP. 410
