LOCAL EDUCATION

COMMITTEE AND BOARD MEMBERS CONFER At the invitation of the Whakatane School Committee, the Chairman of the Auckland Education Board, Mr Hamilton, accompanied by the Vice-Chair-man, Mr Burns, the architect, Mr Miller, and the Senior Inspector, Mr Merrington visited Whakatane for the purpose of conferring with' the committee on matters relating to the future educational needs of the district. The conference took place on Tuesday evening, and on Wednesday, a visit was made to Ohope, and also to several proposed school sites in the Borough. The school itself was likewise visited. The committee reports its satisfaction with the outcome of the visit, a full account of which will be presented at the next committee meeting on Wednesday evening.
