HOUSE BURNT DOWN

BLAZE AT WAIMANA A house owned by Mr Hodges, Waimana, and occupied by Mr and Mrs Angus, Waimana, was completely destroyed by fire last week. Heavy clouds of black smoke were noticed by neighbours, coming from the direction of Mr Angus’ home and it was thought at first that a rubbish fire was burning. A Maori working on a nearby hill gave the alarm when he noticed that the house was on fire. The fire had such a good hold that it was impossible to save anything. Some washing hanging on a clothes line was safely removed. Both the dwelling and its contents were covered insurance.
