Y.F.C. ACTIVITIES

INSTRUCTIVE FILM VIEWED Some sixty members of the Thornton, Edgecumbe, Taneatua, Awakeri and Whakatanfe Young Farmers’' Clubs gathered at the Awakeri Hall last Wednesday evening, for the purpose of viewing an instructional film entitled ‘The Part a We Played’ screened by a visiting Massey-Har-ris representative. The subject, which consisted of the part performed by Massey-Har-ris during the \yar years was interesting, and held the attention of the audience to the final foot. The film depicted the change-over of the film concerned and the manner in which it went into production of shells, truck bodies and aircraft wings. In the last case, it was stated that seven different types of wood were used to form each rib. Other scenes showed the manufacture and export of tractors, and other farm machinery from Canada to Great Britain during the years 1939-45.. Interesting to the young men assembled were the shots showing the uses of newly developed agricultural machinery, included in this class being trailor mowers, threshing mills, header harvesters, discs, planters and drills. A travelogue depicting a pre-war tri from San Francisco to Wake Island completed an interesting and instructive two hours.
