CONDEMNED CARCASES

MAY SPREAD DISEASE 4 According to a remit forwarded to last Executive meeting of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union (Auckland Province) there are no facilities in the Northern Wairoa for the disposal of the carcases of condemned cattle which therefore have to be buried. It was pointed out that with the low-lying flats becoming saturated and flooded during wet periods, infection from animals disposed of thus is likely to cause further spread of disease. The remit asked the Executive to bring the matter to the notice of the authorities nd endeavour to have facilities provided for the proper disposal of condemned beasts. Following a discussion on the methods adopted in other centres it was decided to refer the matter to the Sub-Provincial President for investigation and report.
