FARMERS SEEK FREE SERVICE At last Executive meeting of the N.Z. Farmers Union (Auckland Province) a reply was*received from the Minister of Health regarding a remit which had come forward at the previous meeting: “That the St. John Ambulance service should be free and the charges should be paid by the Social Security fund and not by the sick or injured.” In his reply Mr Nordmeyer said: “It is the intention of the Government to introduce an Ambuance Benefit under the Social Security Act, but so far the details necessary for the implementing of this intention have not been completed. I hope that I will be able to make a public statement on the matter shortly.”
