BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY

WORK IN WHAKATANE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING At the recent annual general meeting of the Whakatane Beautifying Society *off ice bearers were elected as follows: Patron: Mr W. Sullivan, M.P. President: Mr R. F. Smith. Vice-President: Mr E. R. Dillicar. Hon. Secretary and Treasurer: Mr J. Kemp. Committee: Messrs. D. G. Beattie, A. W. Beattie, C. L. Jordan, H. Warren, S. Tippett, J. Creeke, H. C. Richards, B. Sladden and E. R. Marryatt. Members eulogised the efforts made by Mr J. Creeke, the retiring president, and Mr R. F. Smith, the retriing hon. secretary and treasurer and resolutions were passed to be recorded on the minutes expressing appreciation of their valuable services since the inception of the Society. Deep regret was voiced by members in the loss sustained by the death by Mrs F. J. Appleby and a letter of sympathy is to be forwarded to Dr. Appleby.
